Recently, a number of rowing competitions were held in Uman, Cherkasy region, as part of the Ukrainian Championship. A number of athletes from Kharkiv were among the prize winners. Before competitions of this rank, they train at the Bila Tserkva Rowing Centre, which operates thanks to the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation. The athletes stay in shape under the guidance of Ihor Harmash, Honoured Coach of Ukraine.
“Athletes from the Kharkiv region took part in all kayaking and canoeing competitions held in Ukraine this year. Children from the Kharkiv region even took part in the boys' and girls' championship, but unfortunately, they did not win any prizes. However, the very fact that young people from Kharkiv are taking part in such competitions is a step forward in the current situation.” - emphasizes Ihor Harmash.
Meanwhile, Vitalii Tsurkan and Arsen Poladian won bronze medals at the Ukrainian Canoeing Championships in the four-man mixed kayak event. In addition, Vitalii Tsurkan finished second in the 1000m single kayak competition. Kharkiv athletes also won two gold medals in the marathon at the Ukrainian Championships, as well as silver and bronze in the Ukrainian Cup.
