SKOVORODA FOUNTAIN

ABOUT THE PROJECT

As a part of the project, a unique sculptural composition of granite and bronze, the Skovoroda Fountain, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher is being created. The work began in 2021, but the current events forced to suspend the creation of the sculpture.

CONCEPT

Skovoroda’s idea of a «philosophical source» is a metaphor that reflects his belief that divine grace is shared equally to everyone, poured impartially and fairly, and does not depend on the size of the vessel, that is, the person who receives it.

Preservation and protection of the cultural code of Ukraine is everyone’s task. Installing a modern sculptural interpretation of the «philosophical source» of our outstanding compatriot in the center of Ukrainian capital will contribute to this task in the best manner.

The metaphoric Skovoroda Fountain is also depicted on the 500-hryvnia banknote

«It took us a long time to choose the project and to find a person who would deeply feel Skovoroda’s work, his philosophy, attitude to life and, thus, could reproduce the ideas of the great artist, show their scale and importance, emphasize the relevance of his ideas for the modern world. We looked at many proposals and chose the option suggested by the Odesa sculptor,» said the founder of the Foundation, Denys Paramonov.

The author of the monument is an honored artist of Ukraine, a famous sculptor Mykhailo Reva

CREATION PROCESS

The fountain will be almost 4 meters high. The block of Brazilian granite used to create it weighed about 20 tons.

The grain and base were cut on a machine with a special diamond wire continuously for 30 hours. The central element of the composition – the grain – weighs about 15 tons.

«This is a very rare form, in general it can be called a unique case when such a large fountain stands on such a small base», said Mykhailo Reva.

The composition of granite and bronze is based on grain with built-in vases and amphorae of various sizes. The form reflects Hryhori Skovoroda’s idea of a “philosophical source”, wherefrom the Lord pours his grace equally to everyone, regardless of the size of the vessel – the person who receives it.

Together with its partners, the Foundation provided hospitals in Sumy and Chernihiv regions with everything they needed, where there is currently a great demand for medical consumables and various types of equipment. The Foundation also organized a series of first aid courses at Trolleybus Depot №3 in Kharkiv. During the training, participants learned how to provide effective first aid before an ambulance arrives: how to properly apply a medical tourniquet, stop massive bleeding, and respond when an injured person has a fractured limb. In addition, during the summer season, specialists from the EAST Tactical Medical Center teach participants how to save a person from drowning.

First aid training organized by the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation continues at Trolleybus Depot №3

According to the enterprise’s director, Oleh Boldyriev, it would have been difficult for them to organize first aid training on their own. Therefore, the depot’s management and employees are grateful to the Foundation for this initiative, which helps save lives.

With full funding from the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation, experienced specialists are conducting first aid training sessions for employees of Trolleybus Depot №3

Once again, instructors from the EAST Tactical Medical Center are teaching transport workers how to respond in critical situations when a person suddenly feels unwell or suffers serious injuries or trauma.

For the third time in recent months, first aid training courses have been held at Trolleybus Depot №3 in Kharkiv

Experienced specialists from the EAST Tactical Medical Center have already trained dozens of the company’s employees, and this work continues. Unfortunately, not everyone today understands how to properly apply a tourniquet after an injury, which is why special attention is paid to this aspect during the courses. The ability to stop massive bleeding is also an extremely valuable skill in today’s circumstances.
