The book entitled "Skovoroda in the City of Wisdom Zacharpolis" was presented in Kharkiv on the occasion of Independence Day.
The author is a well-known researcher of the history of Slobozhanshchyna, Andrii Paramonov, and the book itself was published on the initiative of the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation.
The book is entirely dedicated to the stay of the Ukrainian philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda in Kharkiv, as he really loved the city.
“The book describes the story of Hryhorii Skovoroda's arrival to Kharkiv for the first time in 1759, where he lived, where he taught and with whom he communicated. It also tells about the churches and various city facilities that were built in memory of the famous Ukrainian philosopher. I have been collecting information for this book for 20 years, and now it is available to the general public,” - Andrii Paramonov noted.
Incidentally, all the engravings and drawings of Kharkiv in Skovoroda's time, which are currently on display at the exhibition 'Skovoroda's Kharkiv in Portraits and Cityscapes', are included in the book "Skovoroda in the City of Wisdom Zacharpolis".
“From the very beginning the idea was that the book "Skovoroda in the City of Wisdom Zacharpolis" should be published on the occasion of a significant date or event. The exhibition on Skovoroda's Unknown Kharkiv was such an event, because it coincided with Kharkiv City Day. Now, thanks to the book, not only the people of Kharkiv, but all Ukrainians can learn about the little-known Kharkiv of the philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda's time,” - in the Foundation emphasized.
