St. Zinaida Children’s Clinical Hospital in Sumy has received new equipment for its ophthalmology department from the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation, including an automatic lensmeter and a retinoscope.
Doctors at the Sumy children’s hospital note that since February 24, 2022, the number of children with vision problems has tripled. As a result, local ophthalmologists have long been in need of high-quality medical equipment, primarily for diagnosing children with visual impairments.
“In today’s world, children must receive medical services of the highest quality, as this directly affects, among other things, their happy childhood. We have been cooperating with St. Zinaida Children’s Hospital for a long time, which allowed us to promptly find an opportunity to purchase the necessary ophthalmic equipment for this medical institution. Accurate diagnosis of children’s vision and subsequent effective treatment have now become a reality for young patients in Sumy,” said philanthropist and founder of the eponymous charity foundation, Denys Paramonov.
According to medical professionals at the hospital, the donated automatic lensmeter and retinoscope will significantly improve the quality of medical services provided by the ophthalmology department.
“At present, it is extremely important what kind of medical equipment we use to examine and treat our young patients. Thanks to the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation, we have received equipment that allows us to conduct examinations of children with eye disorders in a high-quality and modern manner,” said Tamara Stoianets, a pediatric ophthalmologist at St. Zinaida Children’s Hospital.
Thus, the retinoscope enables highly accurate detection of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, while the lensmeter measures lens parameters to ensure precise eyeglass prescriptions.
It is worth recalling that in the autumn of 2024, the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation also provided St. Zinaida Children’s Hospital in Sumy with rehabilitation equipment. At that time, the hospital received a rehabilitation massage table, ten specialized rehabilitation mats, a hand function assessment kit, as well as specialized medical solutions for patient treatment.
