The exhibition Kharkiv by Skovoroda in Portraits and Cityscapes is being held from 16 August to 14 September under the auspices of the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation.

The event is dedicated to the 370th anniversary of the foundation of Kharkiv and the 230th anniversary of the death of the philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda.

All the works on display are related to Hryhorii Skovoroda, who lived in Kharkiv in the 18th century.

“The organizers have done a unique job, because it is extremely difficult to find any information about what a certain area of Kharkiv looked like in the 18th century. So, they have collected everything, bit by bit, in different archives to understand how to show the same churches or the same Sunday market of the city that existed almost 300 years ago. We are proud to have been part of the effort for the opening of this exhibition. We invite everyone to experience the unique history of Kharkiv,” - in the Foundation noted.

One of the exhibition's highlights is a panorama of Kharkiv in 1759.

This is exactly how Hryhorii Skovoroda saw the city on his first visit here.

Artists Artem Pohribnyi, Pavlo Shchukin and Artem Lazutin created engravings and drawings for the exhibition.

You can visit the exhibition free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday from 12 PM to 6 PM at the Heinrich Semiradsky Art Gallery, 6 Maidan Svobody, Kharkiv.
